Security lock on Photoshop CS file?

I was given templates to use in creating design templates in Photoshop. I emailed them to the developer and he cannot get into the files. there is a password that is requested.
Does anyone know how to undo a file so it is not security protected?

the templates are PSD's OS, yes...

Can you open them?
When you send them are you Stuffing them or Zipping them?
What operating system (mac or PC)?
The only thing I know of is inadvertant locking of Photoshop pdf files by default passwording.
Or using the password feature in Stuffit on purpose or not.
Does anyone else use your computer?
