Our neighbor has a boxer. That dog is a sweetie. But I still don't like dogs.

today's chain jerk: Corrections to a document, page 1 of 60. handwritten/scribbled onto a scan of the PDF file that was printed.
oh and to top it off, I turned to page #2 and see the highlighter/pen she used bleeds through and I can see the Page#1 corrections on Page #2.

My turn to go off and rant!
Ok, I'm officially ... frustrated. If that's even the right word for it.
Why don't more people learn and master the ability to market themselves and run a business properly?? I'm SICK of seeing new students coming out of schools, folks with mad skill sets, thinking they can just Jump in the deep end of the pool without having any floatation devices - or hell even knowing what water is. What makes students think they can do a full fledged freelance business and not only make it, but not get screwed over?! Is it the ego that makes them feel like they can't lose?
I'm loving my new job but i'm dealing with a lot of egos here and I swear, after doing this as long as I have, I just don't care anymore. To one of my employees: I don't care if you think you're top shit. I don't care if you say you dream in helvetica. All i care about is whether you're going to hit my deadlines and knock the work out of the park. If you can manage to do that, without disrupting the rest of my team - we'll be good. I don't want to deal with your ups and downs, I don't want to get whiplash from your moodswings and I certainly don't want to see them upset my team. I don't want to deal with you if you're going to literally cry and get upset because you've just discovered that I'm more creative than you. And that I could write up a business proposal complete with marketing schedules, product development cycles and pricing plans for the next 5 years in conjunction with designing the product itself. I don't care that you're older than me, I have more experience in this than you do. Doesn't mean you won't get there - but leave the ego at the door. Personally, I don't get what all the fuss is, I've seen and worked with other designers who could have easily blown your skills out of the water. You're slow, and you get stuck in the weeds on a daily basis in which I have to go pull you out and get you back on track. Get it together!!
- ahh.. that feels a little better. Thank you. Managing a team of 30, sometimes you need to vent a little.

I knew people like that.
Guessing it comes from doing "real-life" projects at school or working on friends and friends projects during college and figure alls-the-same in the real world, I'm Golden!
Guy I knew was hired at last job I had and came in talking about owning his own design firm…while also working a 9-5 as a junior designer at ours. Somebody commented after he walked away that if his "design firm" was that good, he wouldn't need this junior designer job too. His design program of choice was Photoshop and designing postcards, business cards, tees, basically everything in it. I tried to explain to him once about Masks in Photoshop rather than just duplicating a layer and deleting parts all the time as he increased his file size. It hit him one day that he was not an "all-knowing-designer" when working with 2-color jobs, separations and trapping. He said they don't teach this in school–I feel like an idiot.
Now, I worked some freelance when I was new…well a couple years into a real job. I knew my limits and would not take on every job.

I think I've been switching between the GDF, Soundcloud and e-mail friends for the past 3 hours...
There's nothing to do here.

At least you can surf the GDF.
For the last several weeks, all I've been doing is reading leadership articles. Nothing to do, but it would raise too many flags if I were in here several hours a day.

I set my alarm for pm instead of am and ended up waking up 90 minutes later than I wanted too. Somehow I was only 10 minutes late for work...still trying to figure out how I did that lol.

exaggerated rushing and different drive-time traffic.
funny how sometimes things end up like that. You sure give yourself some time in the morning.

I don't normally get up that much earlier than I have to be at work, but I have a slightly later shift today since I'm covering for a manager and I was going to do a few things around the house before I left. Normally I get up about 45 minutes before I have to leave haha.
