Maya

Hi ,does anyone here have experience of working with Maya? I'm going to be studying 3d animation at uni in september and this is what we are going to be using. I am thinking about getting a start on it in the summer and basically wanted to know if it's difficult to learn.

Thanks

Brush up on your math skills, you'll need it.

If I'm not mistaking you should be able to download a demo or there may be a free student version with a watermark built in. You'll need a decent computer to run this program.

Yeh, going to buy a 250 GB mac in the summer, and I know a guy that can pretty much get me any software.

Do you use Maya then?

I wanted to several years ago but I came to the conclusion that unlike several applications that I was successful in learning with books and trial and error and some classes at the local college, Maya is a program if taken seriously, you'll need some real training to be very good at. At that time the program cost at least $16,000.00 U.S. dollars. I didn't feel motivated to that extent because it didn't fit into my plans at the time.
