Incomplete Asian Font Install

For educational purposes I am making a hybrid Japanese-English font. Using Typetool I have created a font which will not successfully load on any computer I try to varying degrees. TypeTool tech support has been unsatisfactory (euphemism).

I get varied results including the font appearing in my font menu for Word, but only a default font appearing upon typing. Or the English keystrokes produce my font characters, but Japanese entries fail (the font switches automatically to an MS font). The most success was an open type version on my American computer which produced English and Japanese entries correctly, but would show number shifts like, $%^&, in their default form even though they were deleted and replaced with my homemade characters. Japanese computers for which the font needs to work cannot produce more than the English entries in my font.

I need advice for TypeTool preferrably or regrettably a more reliable program recommendation. FontLab at no point suggested FontoGrapher to me and that program also does not seem to have been made complete, so I mean something not FontLab. High-Logic has been supportive, but do not seem to have an appropriate program.
