UK (Old) Newbie

Hello to everybody here.

I am a 41 year-old fellow living in North West England.
A couple of years ago I decided to pursue a long-held ambition and try and become a Graphic Designer. I have a lifelong love of the subject and some of my earliest memories are logos - how many other infants were mesmerised by Francesco Saroglia's Woolmark logo I wonder?

I completed a HND qualification in Graphic Design last July but since then things have been slow other than a few days freelance work!
Still, I'm optimistic about the future and am ready for another serious push to gain employment in this competitive sector. This seems to be a fantastic resource and hopefully I'll learn a lot.

Cheers!

Welcome! I didn't understand what your avatar was at first but now it all becomes clear

Thank you to everyone for the greetings.

I'm a bit surprised at so many comments about the screen name! It was just a daft word I remember using when I was a kid.

I didn't realise that there was such a thing as a pignut, although a quick google reveals that they are something to do with hickory trees which I don't think we have too many of the UK.

As for the Avatar, I recently thought of working under the name "Pignut Designs" (it seemed like a distinctive enough name - easy to remember for the URL) and just designed the logo/symbol around what I thought a "Pignut" should look like.
