Imposition Pagination

ahhhhh

This has been killing me. I created a 44 page file for a client using a straight forward page count. Start with the cover and go down. However I Found out it needs to be printed in "printers flats".

It's been 10 years since I created a printers flat. It there any automated way to do this in IND CS3 or Acrobat?

Do I have to move all the pages one by one?

Any info would help.

Thanks

Tim

Using Acrobat you can print to a booklet format. In the Print Dialog box
under the Page Scaling drop down menu select Booklet Printing. Then change
the sheet size to your desired finished size (2 x page width) and print.
I usually print to Adobe PDF using this setting, but you should be able to
Print to File also (or use whatever Postscript printer you want).

InDesign has a similar function in the File menu "Print Booklet"

Okay, yes, it needs to be printed in printers spreads, but is this something you need to do, really? Is the printer asking for the file this way? Because seriously, unless they're using a seriously outdated printer to produce the piece, that just sounds weird to me.

I know, thats why it's so foreign to me, I haven't had to make make flats since 93 when we used to send physical pages to the printer. I guess the job is being printed in a runabout way, hand collated and then stapled.

I just make it pretty.

Thanks on the pdf tip, thats what I did, found the print booklet setting and it set everything up for me nicely
