we use painter also.. its definatly different from what i THOUGT the class would be.. I wanted to be stronger in drawing illustrations in illustrator.. this teacher doesnt even BELIEVE in illustrator!! Which is my Fav. Program!!

he says its pointless since Photoshop can have paths.. ugh.

I am very dissapointed with this class.. :/

But thanks for your opinions! I was just wondering what others besides my teacher would think!

Do you think the kitten one would be portfolio material? im just starting out and i dont have much stuff to show.

What program are you using?

You said your teacher doesn't believe in Illustrator. WTF?

I would switch teachers and if anyone else is anything like him I would switch schools.

I like the rear view mirror in the Civic but thats about it. Your learning so don't get dissapointed we all started knowing nothing and we eventually learned.

Effects are two trendy so try to limit them unless you can really get away with using them. You should concentrate more on design style, color, LAYOUT and things that compliment design. Take a walk through the super market and look at all the packaging also go to a book store and look at alot of covers. This will expose you to what the pros are doing and little by little you'll pick up on what good design is.

Good try. =)

we used photoshop for that one.. were only doing photoshop and painter in that class.. unfortunatly he is the only digi illustation teacher there.

my other classes are pretty cool. theyre not like him & his thinking.

what we had to do was take a buncha picz.. make them grayscale then add color thru the one thing (forget what it was but it was by the modes in photoshop). and we had to use a filter on everything.. nothing could not have a filter..

I was thinking of writing the school and complaining saying that the class was misleading. I didnt have to take that class for my degree that was a elective. Didnt really learn much that I didnt end up learning in my other classes i was really hopin for a hardcore illustrator lesson! id love to master that program!! hehe.

thanks tho for ur opinions!! Only makes me stronger!!

Debz you can always pic up a book and do the lessons. This will always help.

But your teacher seems like he just wanted you to experiment with the software. He probably dosn't know much about design. Maybe he only know the software.
