Bar Logo/Crits and Comments please!

Haven't been around too much lately, but I am looking for comments and critiques on a new logo I am working on for a client. It is for a bar called the Blue Moose House Tap. Let me know what you think.

Clever design. Very nicely done.

I'm not a huge fan of the versions with the text - the text looks a bit dull and like an afterthought. I think it makes the whole thing look unbalanced.

I'd suggest trying some different fonts - maybe use different weights for the two lines - and try placing your text differently. (Maybe running upwards inside the icon)

It is a clever design but at first glance to me it looks like a jackhammer. Just needs a little more tweaking

Do the antlers have to be so symmetrical? Here are a few examples that look like they have a bit more movement: 1, 2, 3. I like the concept, but there just doesn't seem to be much movement in the logo.

Look at some of these other beer logos. They all have some dynamic curve in the shape or type that directs your eye to the next letter. If you like the moose icon, the I definitely suggest you adjust your type. While the font matches your logo angles, its too subdued. Beer makers use type to make that bold statement about their brand. The smooth rounded type has this "too cool" feeling, ala the Sony Ericsson logo.

The fact that its a beer and named after a moose should give you a cue to experiment with typefaces that bring you back to the outdoors, camping, fresh air, all natural, or hunting. Its not easy mixing up two opposing ideas, but one of my favorites is Fat Bastard wine, which uses a mix of humor (the name and the hippo tearing the label) and sophistication (elegant type, lifestyle branding). Keep experimenting!

I love the idea but the text seems to be too similar to the logo. I can see why you chose the font as its a perfect match for the style of the logo but if there was some contrast between the logo and the text it might bring it alive.

Maybe if you give an outline of what the bars like then people could judge whether its suitable.

Surfpark - it is a bar not a beer. Thank you for the rest of the feed back though.

The bar will be targeting young people mostly college students considering it is in a college town. The bar will be bringing in a lot of music and knowing the booking agent it will be a lot of young bands trying to get there name out there, they will probably have the nadas and other bands like that too. I know they will be using wooden barrels for beer so they will be mixing in somewhat of an old school feel with a new school atmosphere. I definitely want the logo to have a "cool" feeling. Sorry for the short description I will give a better one when I am home from work as I do not have access to a computer at my current day job and I am already running late. Thanks for the help, please keep it coming!

I like the design. You might add some highlights, or something to bring something dynamic to it.

If the name says tap, I'm thinking the logo should look like a tap. Not a bottle.

Poppa- That is actually concept #2 I am working on. Well it is a beer tap handle, I will post when I am finished with that concept.

I think this concept with the bottle works well for the bar even though the name is tap. Does anyone else have an opinion?
