I hate vampires!
I was over at the library the other day returning the latest Dan Brown book which just like all his other books promised to reveal an amazing, world changing secret only to deliver basically nothing after wading through several hundred pages. I swear reading a Dan Brown novel is like being promised a prime steak and lobster dinner 300 miles away. Then when you finally arrive they hand you a cold McDonalds hamburger and a fish stick.
Anyway, I thought to myself, maybe I'll pick up a horror novel since I hadn't read one for a while. So I wander through the stacks picking up books with the little ghost sticker on the spine that designates horror books and reading the inner cover to see what they are about. All I could find were vampires and more vampires. I never liked vampires back when they were horrible blood drinking monsters. I like my monster to be genetically mutated, preferably with lots of claws and tentacles. But nobody writes about cool monsters anymore, it's nothing but vampires. And todays vampires are all a bunch of sensitive, pansy-ass pussys who struggle with their inner turmoil at being a vampire. :gag: I mean when all that's lined up for the hottest new book/movie release are a bunch of soccer moms with half a dozen tweenyboppers in tow the genre is dead.

Do you like zombie books Kool?
I know Bladez just read a pretty good one a few months back. Maybe when he gets on he can help you out as he really likes the same type of thing you do. And has also been complaining that the horror section is being overrun with lame vampire books.
(I personally like the vampire books but think they need their own section as they are all over the place, horror, romance, fantasy, how about we create paranormal romance and all those books can go there?)

You need to watch True Blood. I can't guarantee you that you'll like vampires. But Anna Paquin does get her boobies out in it. Interested yet?
Even if you did a good book with a monster with testicles for eyes you'd still find that they struggle with their inner turmoil of being a monster. That's todays world, tomorrow.

I don't mind zombies, no inner turmoil there, just brain eating fun.

Kool, I don't think we've ever talked books. Do you like Stephen King? "Cell" was pretty bloody. I've just started his latest, "Under the Dome." 1071 pages, including colophon.
One of the things I like about his novels is the "When bad things happen to ordinary people" aspect of it.

Come to think of it Typ, that's why I only watched the first two eps of Vampire Diaries on the CW. I only gave it a chance 'cause it had Boone from LOST in it. But after two episodes I felt so emo I almost opened a vein myself!

I'm with ya Typ Remember the emo vs vampire Southpark episode?
I've read just about everything King has written Garricks, loved about 80% of them. I didn't know his latest was out, I'll definitely get on the waiting list at the library for it, it sounds really good.

Yeh Vamp Diaries sucked - pun intended.
Stephen King is pretty dark. Or can be anyway. Haven't read any of his books in years.
