Question Color problems with Canon iPF9000

I have a couple of signs that I'm trying to output on the Canon iPF9000, but my colors are SO off. I'm trying to get a bright red and a burgundy color, but no matter what I try, I keep getting too much orange. I'm outputting from an Adobe pdf file off of a Windows machine. I try to send from the Mac and it just ignores it. I get a "libgaro_color error: 18000". Anyway, it will print from the PC, but the colors are just so off. I try to get a burgundy and I get purple. I've tried using more black and it looks like dark orange. I've tried so many test prints it's unbelievable. I've checked to ensure the paper type matches. I've turned off color management. I've exported the pdf with color conversion and without color conversion.

Any ideas?

why not print from the native file? sometimes making a pdf and printing from there isnt the best idea... it does do some converting even when you 'tell it not to'. im sure someone will come along and say why, i dont know personally tho.

Problem was that I couldn't print from my Mac where the file was created (in Illustrator), so had to print from the Windows machine, and pdf was the only file type I could use. I've since downloaded a new driver and it will print from my Mac. Discovered that I needed to have the settings AND the paper on glossy. The color came out completely different! Thing is, though, what if I HAD to print on plain matte paper? Do I have to live with my reds being orange?

no, you should never have to 'live' with anything... have you tried to print it on another printer? how does the color compare? there could be a prob with the printer software. ive seen that before too.
