Ok, when you 'publish' your movie, there should be an HTML and .swf output of the file.
What you want to do to make it viewable is upload it to your host then use the HTML file as the accessible part of your file, meaning, you want people to go to
http://myflashmovie.com/mymovie.html
'mymovie/html' is the file that displays your movie on the internet if your file is 'mymovie.swf'.
It basically embeds your movie within the parameters that you chose when you made it, otherwise the flash movie would open up to the size of whatever browser was calling it as an swf file.
You can also embed movies in certain places as long as you know the exact size the movie should be displayed at, kinda like my sig. I don't use the HTML output to show it, but I embed it at the size it should be displayed at.
An example code would look like this: <embed src='
http://myflashmovie.com/mymovie.swf' height='100' width='100' />
Once you plug that code into the proper place, your flash movie should display to those parameters.
The HTML output that gets published with your flash movie is good because it automatically directs people to the Macromedia website so they can get the flash player needed to display your movie if they don't have it, since not everyone already has it installed on their system.
When you simply embed a flash movie, you are assuming that most people already have flash player 7 installed on their machine, or you're simply just adding a small falsh element to a larger pre existing file, kinda like my sig.
You can also embed small flash elements into your other HTML files, like using a header that's made in flash, or using some flash advertising.
There are a lot of different ways to display flash movies depending on what exactly you're trying to do, but the most simple and basic way is to upload the 2 files that are created when you 'publish' your movie to your host. All you gotta do is use the HTML file in the url, and you'll see the movie.
