Not sure if this is the right section to post it in :P If it isn't I'll move it.
What do you guys prefer to use? Adobe Photoshop or InDesign? Also tell what you think each on is best at...

each has its own wonderful purpose... in short, Photoshop = photo editing. InDesign = Layout. And if you are using photoshop for layout work you are WRONG!

They're completely different apps that are meant for two entirely different purposes. Comparing the two is like comparing a screwdriver to a saw and asking which is preferable.

I prefer to use the right tool for the job at hand. Photoshop and InDesign are two completely different tools. It's like asking a contractor whether they prefer their power drill or their nail gun.

While there might be a time where I make a decision between using InDesign or Illustrator (or even Illustrator vs Photoshop for certain tasks).
There is almost NEVER a "choosing" between Photoshop and InDesign.
If making a layout (for a poster, brochure, CD cover, etc) I would never use Photoshop.

Good to know. I honestly have never used InDesign before... so I think I might go ahead and get it.
I've been using Photoshop since I was 10 (I'm currently 12)... and I've used it to do EVERYTHING. Thanks guys!

Wow. Photoshop is an expensive bit of software for a 10-12 year old--as is InDesign.

My mom does Graphic Design/Marketing for her work... they have left over keys/licenses. HUGE benefit.

lol... And here I am with the moderator hat on, ready to scold a 12-year-old should he mention downloading a hacked version of InDesign.
By the way, welcome aboard! Please have a read through the threads in this section so you know all the rules and some of the inner workings of how this place is run.
