ALONE IN THE 3D WORLD!!!!

Alone in this room, the 3d world,
staring at the walls, making me hurl!
i'm sure there are more people to see,
what Allen has done, has done for me.

So i've bitched and complained to have this here,
no GDF bobbies, not even a beer.
So come one come all as i am your host,
JUST SOMEONE ELSE WRITE A DAMN POST!!!!!

LOL! I do appreciate 3d work - but it's something I've never tried my hand at. Perhaps I shall give it a go with one of the freebie programs you've posted.

I appreciate the great resources you've listed here!

awwww, I knew i could count on ol' faithful rockette. Thanx for keeping me sane! If you want to try something easy try the demo version of swift3d, very easy to learn! That's what i started with.
the others are cool too but pretty complicated.

(i'm gonna have to steal you away from Neuro!)

Hi Tyger.

I did some 3D work. Even had an internship at Alias HQ in Toronto one summer. But that was back in the days when not just anyone could afford to do 3D. I started to get into it but found that there the only entry level work seemed to involve realistic animations of various viscerations for game companies-- or super dry technical engineering stuff. The 'fun' stuff was in character animation--not something I had time enough to study. But even there, it was hard for me to find anything that had enough 'distinction' in rendering character. Everything kinda looked the same (and I would argue-- largely still does!).

It's an incredible field though. Nowhere else can you experience creativity to such truly 'Godlike' proportions. That also makes it very easy to get 'overwhelmed' with the sheer list of variables in your control.

What software are you using for your work?

I hear ya' Broach. It's a very competitive field and truly hard to get into unless you have a kickass demo reel. Personally i do 3d as a hobby and it comes in handy with some of my freelance work. I started with Swift3d mainly because it's a user friendly app and i had no 3d background whatsoever. I've dabbled in Maya but there's so much to learn. I've actually just started to learn Cinema 4d which i really like, and it's not as hard to grasp as some of the other apps. I wish i was younger and had the time and money to study further as you mentioned but honestly right now i've got more important things to worry about. Besides it's much more fun learning it as a hobby.

Hey wait a min. If there really isn't that many of you out there that know or deal with 3D, maybe that's where I should be taking our business?! Hmmmm....

Neuro, There may not be alot of us here in the GDF but the 3d field is very competitive. Do you have 3d background as well?
