Need help taking design from illustrator to use as template in word/publisher

I am at wits end with this problem. I have created a few different designs in adobe illustrator. I am trying to load them into microsoft word or publisher to create a template for a friend to use to create some menus. I have created everything and saved as a jepg, bitmap, and tiff file. Each time I load the file into word/publisher either as a watermark, background, or even just inserting a picture, it will skew the graphics I have created. It puts a cloud around the graphics. I consider myself still relatively new at graphic design and cant seem to figure out why it does this. PLEASE HELP!

artifact? because you are converting it to a raster format, it will never be as crisp as what you started with. are your graphics the same dimensions as your page in word?

I cringed a bit too, but it sounds like the OP's friend changes their menu frequently, and buying a copy of AI or ID isn't warranted for centering a bunch of items on a page...

That got me thinking, what about printing blanks?

yes, the dimensions are the same from the illustrator file to the word file. And yes, Im just making the design in illustrator, but using the design to make a template that can be changed in word/publisher, unless someone else has a better idea!

^This.

Then again, I do everything in my power to avoid things being designed in Word.

Print blanks (like letterhead; for menus). That way you don't have to muck about with MS Office. your friend type up they're menu and print it on your pre-printed background.
