how to make something look squished...

not sure I posted this in the right spot...I'm sure I'll be 'told' if that's the case

can someone tell me how I can make a logo look like it's being squashed by the corner of a box?

I could tell you how to do it in Corel easily but I only use Illustrator for opening and saving .ai's these days so I'd probably sound like an idiot trying to describe it. It's called 'envelope' in Corel, don't recall what it's called in Illustrator.

Shirbet... maybe be a little more elaborate in your description...

Do you mean as if it was printed on a box that got squished?
Do you mean a box fell on it and squished it?
Do you mean a lady fel... erm... forget that one

Try using a mesh to distort it under Filter > Liquify
or distort it using the various distortion effects...

Sounds like you will need to use a number of techniques to get what you are after...

sorry for lack to detail...#2 is the right answer. I didn't quite get my squished look but I used a shatter filter on the logo...it looks 'ok' not 'great'....thx.

Do you use Corel because you think it's better?

You all have probably had this debate before but which is better Corel Draw or Illustrator? I had Corel draw years ago (ver. 4) and thought it was fine at the time (wasn't using itverymuch thenanyway) but all I hear about these days is Illustrator and since I want to use PS, InDesign and Illustrator together I thought it was about time I learned it. If you do like it better, why specifically?

If it wasn't for the last minute nothing would ever get done.

I think it's better of course, but I have no real proof to back it up.

I have Illustrator, but all my files are in corel...so..that's what i use. I can do absolutely anything in Corel that you can do in Illustrator, I think.I haven't had anyone test that theory. So there's no reason for me to switch.

Unlike Photopaint and Photoshop. Photopaint is a great program and you can do everything in it that you can do in photoshop, but...photoshop is just...smoother, better, can't really explain it.

If you were going to use Indesign and PS I would see no reason NOT to use Illustrator - and no benefit to using Corel in your position.

Except you get a lot of fonts with corel.. Yup, lots of fonts.

I don't think we've really debated this one actually. Why don't you start a thread? This would be kinda hidden here.

Be vewy vewy quiet...we're hunting umlauts.
