1,000 Cranes land in St. Louis
This is just awesome. My old friend Rick organized this event to raise $10,000 for The Backstoppers, a group who raises money to help the families of fallen firefighters and police.
The event is this weekend on Art Hill, in front of the St. Louis Art Museum. It's a long hill that leads to a paddle boat lake at the bottom, and is best known for its awesome sledding in winter.

That is cool. It's kind of hard to tell, how big are they?

Finally found the other article. They're made from 60-inch squares and measure 40 inches wing tip to wing tip. It takes about ten minutes to fold one crane.
Here's Rick & a couple of his volunteers.

Awesome! I folded 1000 hand sized cranes a few years ago. Never folded anything that big. I wonder if you'd get faster at it after the first say, 100 or so?
Some of the ones in the background look like they're not trying very hard

Wow, this is brilliant!
Soaring over Art Hill with 1000 Origami Cranes below

Flying at Forest Park on Art Hill while the http://www.stlcraneproject.com/organization had folded origami cranes covering a large portion of the field. I believe they were raising money for the St. Louis BackStoppers on this day by selling each Crane for $10.
