Squshing text in fireworks

Hi all,
I'm trying to place some text in to a 'squashed box' using fireworks.

I've found an example of something similar:http://landisvillepool.com/images/swim_team_logo.gif

I'm trying to get a similar effect e.g. the text stretches/squashes to fit into the squashed box.

I've tried attaching the text to path, but that just makes it sit on the box. I want the text to expand to fit the contours of the container.

I hope that makes sense,

Thanks

That logo was likely designed in Illustrator, which has those tools built in. I'm not sure about Fireworks.

Modify > Transform > Distort basically does what you want, but not like the example you posted.

Also try the PASTE INTO command. I haven't tried it, so give it a shot.

Primarily with the Envelope Distort tools.

Just don't use any metal tools, have an open flame present, or be smoking while you work with fireworks

So I went and downloaded the trial version of illustrator, over the weekend (yes my bandwidth is that slow!).

I've tried various, combinations of Envelope Distort tools but can not for the life of me get this effect.

If anyone knows how to do this, has a link to a tutorial or knows what I can search for to find how this is done. I'd be grateful.
