Color profiles for matte paper on Epson 3800
Hi! I'm totally confused as to how I'm supposed to set up my printer to produce nice colors on matte paper. Premium luster paper works splendid. Matte paper, not so – the colors are look pretty bad.
So how do I set up my printer for matte paper?

Hot press paper is what I'm trying to print. Found a color profile for it. The paper is called 200g scandia white. How do I use that color profile? I've installed it, but don't know how to access it.
This is the ICC profile: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/j..._StylusPro3800
I'm exporting the PDF with the right color profile. Should I use preserve numbers or not?
PS: Anybody know any good books on this subject?

No change. Still the gray, dull blacks and low contrast in the picture I printed. Annoying! At a photo/video store I was in the other day, they showed me some really, really clear prints on similar paper!
Please somebody, come to my rescue! :P

Mac osx mountain lion. I save as pdf and print through preview. Does the program I print from affect the colors? (that sounds like a stupid question, but nonetheless I don't have a clue)

What program are you using to make the PDF.
Not only does the printing program affect the color, so does what you do in the program making the PDF. The latter more so.

What progrom would you recommend for converting an indd-file to PDF?

If you are just printing to a desktop printer, why do the added step of creating a pdf?
When you go to print, directly from InDesign, make sure that you can access the printer dialog box, the one that interfaces with the printer itself (it's next to the page setup at the bottom of the InDesign print dialog box.)
You may get an error message to work only in the InDesign menu. Ignore it.
Once you access the printer dialog, click on the word Layout and you'll get other options. You want something called "print settings". In there, click the paper and quality settings you want.
If you are using non-epson paper, sometimes you have to experiment. If you loaded an ICC profile into the Epson driver, it should be available there.

Thanks a lot! I will try that.
I have gotten into the habit of saving as pdf's as our school printer can supposedly freeze when you print directly from the Adobe applications.
