Ever have one of those projects...

...that's so incredibly tedious and boring and non-creative that you avoid working on it at all costs and will find and pounce upon ANY excuse or distraction to not work on it? I get really happy and excited when any other project comes along that I can work on instead. There's little other work left right now so I've been trolling around here, Twitter, Facebook, CNN, local news sites... even brainstorming on next year's holiday card...

Thankfully there's no rush on this thing, but holy CRAP do I not want to work on this thing. EVER.

Copying, pasting and formatting 170 business cards then submitting those cards fronts and backs individually.

Sorry. I still have a bad taste from that. We've been getting a steady stream of boxes of them in for the last three days (including Friday.) So far we've found multiples, missing orders, and orders for customers that have nothing to do with us (they shipped them here accidentally.) It's a good thing their workflow is idiot-proof

I've been known to do this on my pigeon magazine. Sometimes, I'm just not interested in pigeons like I should be. Then I sit down to do it and realize I was making a mountain our of a molehill. Actually, I'm procrastinating on it right now!

I'm entering products into an ecommerce site we're building for a client. The products are things I honestly don't know a thing about. I believe they're used for manufacturing other things that I know nothing about. Tool posts & holders, boring bars, grooving inserts. Bah.

Wanna trade Lith? I'd much MUCH rather set 170 business cards.

I find when not wanting to work on something I have to wait until the last minute.... then I have no choice and it gets done lol

I'm a terrible procrastinator at some things

I've done that before, work on every other little bit of any other project all day, and when I'm all done with that, I look at the time and say to myself: "Well, it's 4:15. Not much point in diving into THAT now."

And yes, I'm a big procrastinator myself. One of the reasons I've ended up posting all over this place for the last several years.

32000 raffle tickets, 16up on 11x17, numbered and counterfoiled. I'm data merging 400 pages at a time in InDesign. First one took 2 1/2 hours, close to that on this one even though I'm not checking for overset text. And if my clueless boss asks me ONE MORE TIME when it's going to be finished, I seriously may just take a f*****g hike.

I already told my boss how difficult I find working on this. I just said I'm doing a little at a time because I find it hard to concentrate/stay sane if I work on it for too long at a clip. He was totally fine with that. When he asks how it's coming along I just say "Slowly."

Add to that a back with no front, and a front with the wrong back. And a customer howling for their card order .

Really pisses me off that their CSR laughed like I was foolish when I was trying to explain that I thought their file submission protocol was bullshit
