Large Threads
All - Having joined GDF recently, I've seen some rather long and popular threads here (e.g. "What's for lunch?"). Some with as many as (nearly) 10K posts in them. To be honest, in my 20+ years of "bbses/forums," I've never encountered threads this long/active.
For whatever reason, Firefox 18.0.2 seems not to be able to read in some of the threads with larger post counts. I think the best I was able to do was in the 6000 post range, perhaps less.
Do any of you know a way around this? If not, may I suggest, perhaps, we start "ver 2.0's" of these threads (e.g. "What's for Lunch II"), so that others can participate?
Much appreciated...

In your user CP go to Edit Options and scroll down to Thread Display Options, select show all threads in Default Thread Age Cut Off

Thanks much! It turned out to be the "display mode." I prefer "Hybrid," but if the post count is too high, I think V-Bulletin runs out of resources or reaches some processing limit and just doesn't complete the display. If I use "linear" (either older or newer first), I can see the entire thread. Neither "hybrid" nor "threaded" seem to work.
I'll do some Googling on V-Bulletin and see if there are other reports for it, and/or if there's a fix.
Thanks again!

When you do that, make sure you use the correct v-bulletin sowftware version number.

Absolutely! I see GDF is on ver. 3.8.4. Ver. 4.2.0 is the current production release. Ver. 5.x is now on "beta 28" as of 02/07.
The V-Bulletin discussion forum does have reports of memory issues with "hybrid" display mode in 3.x versions. I do understand, though, the effort required to upgrade. I recently began "admining" for a phpBB based forum, but not with threads as large as I've seen here.

And the taco parties usually get a twee out of control, but who can blame us?

I can identify with the "bacon" thing (and Pizza, BBQ, etc.), but, at this point, I really need to watch what I eat. Must lose weight! This, and an extremely sensitive GI tract. And although I can, usually, find something I like to eat in all world cuisines, there are two with which I have consistent difficulty...
Sorry KitchWitch... Mexican is one of them...
