How to use this forum?

Most of the non-bot views are the result of search engine referrals. Someone types into Google a search for something along the lines of what you just mentioned, and Google refers them here. Even the Discourse software the forum is built upon constantly recommends years-old topics.

This results in lots of old topics being revived by newcomers who don’t notice the dates. It also means that long after a thread has run its course, the views keep piling up over time. The search engine referrals also provide a constant supply of new forum readers, even though few of them hang around as ongoing participants.

And this is the one major downside of this forum. The very people we rail on most about are the very ones we are facilitating with our helpful advice, LOL!

One benefit for me is that if I have a design question, the people here have actual professional knowledge. Some online design forums don’t have many members who are professionals.
