RIP: The Necrology Thread

For a songwriter, Kristofferson was a brilliant lyricist.

I always liked Puff the Magic Dragon, but otherwise, Iā€™m not big into the folk scene. But, back a few years ago a relative dragged me to a performance at Proctorā€™s with Peter and Paul. Mary was no longer with us. I was most reluctant to go and thought ā€˜ā€˜Iā€™m gonna fall asleepā€™ā€™. Much to my surprise they were freaking fantastic! They sounded amazing and were funny and engaging. Iā€™m so glad she made me go

RIP Peter

This was a pretty funny movie.

Peter, Paul and Mary were a favorite of mine from childhood onward.
Had Puff on a 45 and wore that little sucker out.
The other side was Marvelous Toy, which was more of a novelty song than folk.
Most of their stuff was in minor key which I like to listen to, not so much cuz it was ā€œfolk,ā€ and their harmonies were always spot on.

Peter, Paul and Mary were very much a part of my growing up. Some of their best work are not their most popular.

They are both great movies. I prefer those two over Spinal Tap and Waiting for Guffman. Not that those two werenā€™t good, I just prefer Might Wind and Best in Show.

Oh, man, thatā€™s too bad. I was a big Twin Peaks fan. Some of his films I liked. Others, like Eraserhead mentioned by @CraigB, were a little more challenging to embrace. For those of you too young to know Twin Peaks, I think itā€™s on Netflix.
