Was it my fault? (Facebook ads images size)

I understand how there may be confusion for someone who isn’t familiar with Facebook ad sizes, but I’m questioning who places the Facebook ad. I’ve been in many situations where I’m managing the campaign, but I’m not placing the ad or designing the ad. I typically have to ask person A for details and relay the info to person B so that when the material is handed off, the issue doesn’t come back to me.

Also, to defend graphic designers, yes we DO know these concepts. What you gave your designer isn’t a size, it was a ratio. An ad with a 1:1 size ratio is a relative measurement. You’d need to know the size of at least the height or the width of an ad to know the size. An ad can measure 1200x1200 px or 100x100 px. They’re both 1:1. Facebook is explicit in its documentation that ads must be a minimum size.

In the future, you need to provide both:

  1. The width or height of an ad image in pixels (i.e. 1000px)
  2. The ratio (i.e 1:1)

Or you can provide both the height and width and that would suffice.
