2D animation software

Hi, I’m interested in animating in 2D and was wondering what animation software is good to use?

The answer to your question depends on what you plan to do with it, your current level of expertise, what kind of animation you have in mind, whether you want raster capabilities in addition to vector, how much you want to spend, whether you’ll be using it on a tablet, whether you’ll be using a Mac, Windows, iOS, or Android, the learning curve you’re willing to tackle, and whether you want to go with the tried and true or something newer.

Maybe you could give us a little more detail about what you have in mind.

Yeah sorry, it was a very generic question. I have only a little experience and have used both Opentoonz and Krita before. Had some trouble with using Opentoonz in the past as I was still learning the program. Been a while since I’ve tried animating and wanted to ask if there were any other programs that would be a good alternative or I should stick to either Opentoonz or Krita? Something free or a one time payment that isn’t too expensive.

I mostly do frame by frame but like having more tools to play around with, so nothing too basic. Also I’m on windows and using a screen tablet.

Thankyou for your help!

If you already have experience with Opentoonz why not keep at it? I see a group online was working on a Morevna Edition edition of Opentoonz that might cleanup any issues with the older program. Other than that maybe wait for a sale from MOHO.
