An Early Merry Christmas

I know it’s not Christmas yet - it’s only September 24th - but my local store thinks it is.

I have a couple of friends who are living in the Philippines. They’re saying Christmas is already in full swing there. Crazy.

It’s moving way too fast for this old Gal. I fully intended to start my Christmas crafts at the beginning of September. However, 2 weeks ago, I decided to really celebrate Fall … head first.

I have been pretty quiet about it. I didn’t want people to be telling me to wrap myself in bubble wrap and giving me advice on how not to fall down LOL  Needless to say, I did quite a number on my skull and may have broken my wrist. I had a lovely escort to the ER via the Squad and had CT scans of my head (had to check for a brain bleed due to blood thinners) and x-rays of my wrist. My head has only recently stopped throbbing. I have a huge goose egg on the back where I smacked it on a table while face planting. I cut the skin but luckily no break or bleed. I did hyper-extend my wrist. I may have broken it. But there was so much previous damage of the past they couldn’t tell (their words) I wear a hard splint at night and a soft bandage during the day.

So … if in another week it’s still bad pain wise, I should see an Ortho. But, it’s getting better. I couldn’t move it at all but, now I can type fairly well and have started doodling again. But, I can’t do any real crafting. I sort of need both hands for that. I can’t bend it hardly at all yet, but the fingers work good. btw … it’s hard being a south paw  That was a whole new learning curve.

Anyhoo … if it doesn’t get better - everyone will be getting a gift card to Dunkin Donuts LOL

All that just to say -

Before my incident I was in Hobby Lobby and they are filled top to bottom with Christmas stuff. I haven’t even bought a bag of candy yet!

RKK, that fall sounds awful. I’m so sorry, but I’m glad you’re beginning to heal up. Thanks for telling us. I’ll be sending you good vibes.

Holy smoke – I wish you a speedy recovery, RKK.

I refuse to believe the goddess is human.

I was thinking you hadn’t been around much. I would rather hear that you were on vacation — not being laid up from an accident. Yikes.I’m very sorry to hear this. Best wishes for a complete recovery and that the wrist will heal on its own.

Aside from me making an occasional run to the hardware store or bike shop, my wife does the majority of the shopping for our house. So I have no idea if stores around here are rolling out Christmas already or not.

Its first sinterklaas here then its Christmas

Sinterklass? You must be Dutch.

Doesn’t Sinterklaas occur during the first part of December? Do people begin decorating for it earlier than that? How do they celebrate it? I know it involves presents and a bearded man in a red bishop’s costume riding a horse, but I’m sure I’m scrambling the details.

Oh dear, that looks painful. I hope your hand recovers soon. Sending you hugs. Keeping the hand in the bandage can make it dry and itchy. If you could moisturise it well, it can also help the skin to recover and create barriers within. I had a fall down the stairs last year Nov. and my right knee had inflammation and bruising. It took me more than 1 month to recover. And my skin was itchy and dry with it covered the whole day, So, I used to apply pure shea butter by (REMOVED POSSIBLE SPAM). It has Vitamin E & A and helps to build moisture in the skin. Apply it at night before you go to bed and when you have a shower and before putting the bandage on.
