Hey folks, is Behance Pro worth it?
I’ve never even seen it - or been a part of it - but like anything:
It depends what you are looking to get out of it.
If you are actively chasing freelance work or commissions, Behance Pro could be worth it. You get your own custom portfolio site linked to your Behance, better discoverability, and it looks a bit more polished to potential clients. If you are building a personal brand or trying to look like a proper studio, that clean ProSite can make you look more serious at a glance.
If you are just posting projects for fun or community engagement, probably not worth it. The free version of Behance already gets you exposure, likes, comments and followers. Paying for Pro does not magically mean more people will see your work or that you will land jobs just because your portfolio looks nicer.
Also, there is a ton of competition on Behance. Paying for Pro does not push you to the top of searches or feature lists. You still have to put in the hours creating great projects, tagging them well, presenting them properly and building your network.
Quick Pros:
Custom website included (good if you do not want to build your own site)
Tidy, branded portfolio
Professional look to clients who Google you
Quick Cons:
Costs money and does not guarantee extra exposure
Free Behance is already very powerful if you know how to use it
You might be better off buying your own domain and building a simple site yourself if you want real independence.
If you have a growing body of work and are starting to get client enquiries, it can be a smart move. If you are just starting out or mainly sharing for peer feedback and fun, hold off and stick with the free account for now.
It depends on your requirements. I do have Behance (normal account) and I do not have any complain, it works better than other providers, but then if your require more from then go for the pro. I am just the basic stuff to show my portfolio that’s enough for me, I am really happy with my own portfolio account and I do not have pro but may be in the future !
I’m already using Behance for free, but I need more views and want to be more discoverable. That’s why I’m planning to upgrade my Behance account and also hope to land some good frrelance projects.
Upgrading to Pro won’t do that for you as I’ve already said.
Hi There
I know what do you mean, but just paying for Behance Pro to get more views I am not sure … you should ask them (Behance support) what do you get for the pro option. Chat with the support or ask them about any advance option (but as Smurf2 said, upgrading to Pro won’t do that for you). May be would be a good idea if you join some freelance websites and then add a link to your Behance site so in that way you can get many views (if that what you want) .
What type of work do you want to show on Behance: print design, UI/UX, illustration, photography, app design, other?
Who is your target market?
I am more expertised and focusing in brand design and Packaging.
And who is your target market?
I focus on brand design for the food, wellness, and hospitality niches — mainly targeting food and beverage entrepreneurs, as well as wellness brand owners.
Are they on Behance looking for designers? That’s an honest question. I don’t know the answer to.
I’m not just focusing on Behance—I’m targeting that kind of audience across all platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and freelance sites.
That’s fine, but the question you posed was “is Behance Pro worth it?” So, again, I ask, are food and beverage entrepreneurs and wellness brand owners on Behance looking for designers? And again, I don’t know the answer to the question. If there are potential clients on Behance looking for designers, maybe I should create a Behance presence. Bottom line, though, I am trying to get you to think through this.
I have been reading the other post, but speaking about Behance and Behance Pro or any other site where to can upload your portfolio. I really think than more important than Behance Pro, t’s important to have an appealing portfolio. Then if you have an appealing portfolio, clients will come to you ! (if you want to be a freelance designer).
Wellness brands and entrepreneurs might not always be active on Behance, but the platform does have a lot of marketing and branding agencies — and you’ll also find freelancers who outsource some of their work. I’m also targeting these agencies and individuals, which I forgot to mention earlier.
I’ve recently uploaded a few new projects and will be adding more and more soon. You can check out my work here: https://www.behance.net/geethugeor4af9.
