Best Practices for Online Label Customization

Hi all,

I’m looking for advice on how print businesses can handle custom label orders more efficiently. Some clients send fully-prepared files, but others want to tweak text, change colors, or adjust layouts themselves. This creates a lot of back-and-forth and potential errors before the job even hits the press.

I’ve seen some companies use tools like Label Design Software to let clients design or customize labels online before sending it to print. I’m curious:

  • Do you use any tools to let clients customize labels or other print products online?
  • How do you ensure files are print-ready while still giving clients flexibility?
  • What workflows have you found reduce mistakes and speed up production?

Would love to hear what’s worked (or hasn’t) for other print professionals.

I work for a Flexo printing label company for many years and we do NOT offer any online tweaks for our clients, and they are all fine with that.
Any changes needed are done in-house by me, with the info and changes approved by the customer beforehand.
Never an issue at all.
