I just inherited a website that was build with WP/Elementor Pro. I’m not the most proficient at WP but I can get by. I just have to add a simple blog post which I did no problem, but the picture that’s included in the post isn’t showing up on the blog page. What I initially wanted to do was just duplicate an old post and update with the new info but I didn’t see a way to do that.
When I look at the blog posts in Elementor that do include the pic on the blog page, they’re just text containers with a pic and the text below that. I thought maybe they were using a featured image widget but that didn’t work either.
Please let me know if there’s any more info you need and any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I don’t use Elementor and without seeing the page, it would be tough for me to give a direct answer. But I can offer a workaround. Install a page duplicator plugin, duplicate the existing blog post that is formatted the way you want it, update the newly duplicated page with the new content, delete the page duplicator plugin. That might not be the most elegant way to handle things, but it should work.
Ahhh I figured it out as soon as I posted this, lol. You have to set the featured picture before you get into Elementor to create the actual post.
Still trying to figure out “why Elementor” instead of just straight WP.
Glad you figured it out! It’s always those little settings that tend to slip by until we take a closer look, right? Elementor does offer a lot of flexibility, but sometimes the native WordPress way is just simpler and more straightforward. It really depends on how much customization you need. Have you found any particular advantages to using Elementor over the default WP editor?
It sounds like the blog page might be pulling images from the Featured Image setting rather than the images inside the post. Try setting a featured image for your new post in the WordPress editor. If that doesn’t work, check the Elementor blog template to see how images are being displayed. Let me know if you need more details!
