I’m working on a design for our university jacket and would love to get your opinions on it. Personally, I really like the design, but there’s one issue—last year’s jacket had a similar color scheme (grey and white), so we’d like to switch things up this time.
The challenge is finding a new color that fits well while maintaining the overall aesthetic. If you have any suggestions for a fresh color combination, I’d really appreciate your input!
I’ve had to source uniforms for our national Karate team, and it was more down to the supplier than actual desire for what colour we wanted, it was more about finding a supplier and finding the deals they had and the colour choices on offer, patterns, designs and other things.
We ended up using JATO for cost reasons and also they had nice enough designs.
So my question is - who’s producing them and what colours do they come in?
We work with a large company that we regularly collaborate with, and they handle the custom tailoring of our uniforms. When it comes to color selection, we have complete freedom—there are no strict restrictions. The main priority is simply to choose something visually appealing.
We don’t have any background on previous colour choices or much information about the university itself, so it’s hard to say what would work best but there are of ways to approach it.
Would you be into something on-trend, perhaps in the theme of the university or courses offered there - for Design School you might want to focus on Pantone Colour of the Year.
Or if it’s fashion see what’s popular, maybe colours that represent your university’s spirit or values, or from elements of the campus, even the city, or cultural changes.
Some go for bold and contrasting coloura, others classic, timeless combos.
Are you open to asking students what they’d like through a poll or discussion? it could be a fun way to get more people involved in the decision.
Do you have any preferences, ideas or anything you’d like to show us, or is the goal just to go for something fresh?
