College Assignment - Esports Logo!

I am currently doing a College Assignment to encourage underrepresented groups to participate in Esports. The assignment has to be based out of York.

Esports is currently a male dominated environment and I have an assignment to move away from this bias and encourage a wide range of other groups of people to take up or get involved in Esports. This is the start of an assignment to potentially create a new business.

I would really welcome your view on the logo and whether it is achieving the objective of a more inclusive participation in Esports.

You probably shouldn’t be “inclusive” to the extent you turn off the current demographic.
Also, a logo isn’t going to do it.
The online culture has to change.

I know it’s for eSports. You said in the description.
Without your description I see ‘A castle in the background’ and the title The Hidden Ones with a controller.

To me this says it’s a 1 player game - based around some sort of Castle adventure where you have find things around the castle or something like that.

It doesn’t have any sports associated with it.

And in terms of sports - I’m not even sure what ‘The Hidden Ones’ mean?

Besides the pink - the only thing remotely calling to a demographic of girls - but this day and age boys were pink with pride and no issue around that stagnant blue/boys girls/pink that we grew up with.

On the plus side the logo shape is cool, the text treatment is lovely, really like ‘Hidden’ and also ‘ONES’.

Kudos on those elements.

But in terms of story and logo development it’s a hit and a miss.

I get your point. Without context, the logo doesn’t really read as eSports or sports-related at all — it feels more like a single-player fantasy or adventure game. The name also doesn’t clearly connect to competition or teams, so that part is confusing.

That said, the logo shape and typography are strong, especially the treatment of “Hidden” and “ONES”. Visually solid, but the story and messaging need to be clearer.

This one sneaked through the registration process. It’s a Pakistani account that I suspect is using AI to rewrite Smurf2’s post. For what purpose, I have no idea, but I’ve suspended the account.
