I’m needing to make a desktop wallpaper “background” and I don’t have a clue as to what popular sizes I should make. Anybody have any experience with this? Like the top 5 or so. Again this is desktop/laptop and not mobile or tablet.
Digital displays come in all kinds of resolution and aspect ratio configurations. For example, the display I’m working on right now is 3840 x 2160. I could be wrong, but I doubt there is one most common size.
1920 x 1080 is a good size since the 16:9 aspect ratio and pixel count is standard for HDTV. Then again, how many people will be using your wallpaper for video production? If it were me, I’d likely suggest sticking to the 16:9 aspect ratio but bumping up the pixel count to better accommodate high-resolution computer displays.
I just created wallpaper for our company of about 15,000 employees which have company provided computers/laptops. IT asked me to use the following sizes, BUT, as @Just-B said, sizes can vary of course. And our company is made up of a lot of “worker bees” running pretty plain Jane PCs.
