New folks never pay attention to the date of threads. I will say in their defense all dates come up in searches and it’s not overly obvious how old they are. I just assume they reply with new member enthusiasm and glaze right over the date part

That being said, I tend to close up the really ancient ones. This one is only 8 months old  Still a baby :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyhoo … I do agree this has long been solved and the OP has moved on.

In addition to what Red Kittie Kat said, we have the forum set up to automatically close threads one year after the last reply is made. However, the automatic closing doesn’t seem to be retroactive to threads that were started before we made that change to the settings.

I’m also inclined to give new forum members the benefit of the doubt. When posts from new members are clearly a lead-up to spam, we don’t allow them through the approval process for new posters. For everything else, I’m inclined to wait until a forum rule is broken before assuming there’s a problem. I don’t want to pre-emptively cut someone off on the suspicion that there might be a future problem.
