Good Affinity Suite Tutorials?

Hi! I got my hands on the affinity suite and I’ve been looking at different tutorials for each program, but I wondered if there were any good tutorials for how to make a solid workflow moving between the programs depending on what your task is, kind of like how there is for photoshop. I know Affinity publisher has that functionality, which is why I’m so interested. Thank you! (PS, any good affinity photo illustration tutorials would be very much welcome!)

Hi Pepperouelle

I have been checking in YouTube, it seems there is a woman with a lot of tutorials, her name is : “Affinity Revolution” and her channel is here : https://www.youtube.com/@AffinityRevolution. I hope her tutorials of Affinity will be useful for you !.

There are basically two ways to use ‘moving between programs’.

The first is the method you mentioned, which starts with Publisher and is called Studio Link. This allows you to instantly show the complete app toolset from Photo, Designer or Publisher. This seems appropriate to me for generating documents such as brochures or posters.

When I only want to work on a photo or illustration, I start with the relevant app. If I need a tool or functionality from another app, I use ‘File/Edit in…’, which is not instant, but works apart from that just as well.

You can also decide later to switch completely, e.g. from Designer to Publisher, if you want to prepare logo designs for presentation prints, for example. Studio Link will then be available.

With some exceptions, you can wildly switch back and forth, which leads to unknown possibilities, such as using the rare destructive methods in a non-destructive way.

Every Affinity file can be edited with every Affinity app. They updated the file model once. You cannot edit files created after that update using apps released before it.

In my humble opinion, workflows depend more on the kind of work you want to do than on the software, which is capable of doing all kinds of workflows except collaboration, which seems to be a future project since Affinity was bought by Canva.

I would start with Affinity’s own tutorials.

Also, create a forum account. The crew and users there can be very helpful:
