Hi, I’m stuck trying to figure out this, seemingly very easy problem. But I can’t figure out, hope someone does. I’m trying to flip the text on a quadrant, but because of the illustrator document is flipped 180 degrees. English language is not my first language, so please forgive if I can’t explain it properly. But my diagram should be able to.
I tried many ways to do it, but still can’t. The text on path is grayed out, only the area tool is available, but I’ve tried already. Hope that someone can help? Appreciate.
In this situation I would just delete the text boxes that are flipped and create a fresh text box in each of the purple quadrants using offset path for the curve.
I think you may have got in a pickle by creating your text boxes before you flipped your quadrants.
Then, and this is the key, using the “Direct Selection” tool (the white arrow) while holding down the Shift key, click on each of your individual points on the curved shape one at a time. My srceenshot below highlights the 4 points I shift clicked on.
Then double click the reflect tool in the toolbar and select how you want to reflect the shape. As you can see, the reflect tool now is only affecting the shape, not the text.
So, once again. You will need to start with your correct version, duplicate it and then follow the steps above so that your text does not flip or rotate as well.
But, as @Johnny_too_bad said, it would probably be just as quick if not quicker to just redraw the text box shapes (without adding text to them) and duplicate and flip them as needed, and then add the text to them.
