How do you mark up changes for a developer?

hello,

I’ve designed an mobile app and have to give design feedback to the developer, just on general things like type sizing, spacing etc the usual kind of thing.

My question is; What the best way to compile the various device screens to compare against the original design?

At the moment i’m putting the designs and screenshots side by side in Photoshop and annoting any changes that I want, but this is quite a slow process.

Happy to hear any suggestions you might have or if any one else has the same issues.

To mark up changes for a developer, you can:

  1. Use Comments – In Figma, Adobe XD, or code files.
  2. Create Annotations – Highlight areas and add notes.
  3. Version Control – Use Git for tracking code changes.
  4. Use Tools – Jira, Trello, or Notion for task-specific notes.
  5. Screenshots with Markup – Highlight changes visually.

Be clear, specific, and organized.

Hey @drog1998, I’ve faced the same issue before and found that uploading the designs to Figma and using comments there really speeds things up. If that’s not an option, creating a PDF with side-by-side screenshots and notes works well too. Some teams also prefer using shared docs like Notion or Google Docs to list changes alongside screenshots. It keeps things organized and easy for the developer to follow.

After 2 years they can finally get their project done.
