How's your weather?

Awesome!!

This is making me a bit nervous as to what Summer will bring. I shouldn’t feel the need for the AC this soon! :frowning: :flushed:

We’ve had a couple of days here in the 80s, but the forecast shows us going back to high 60s and mixed 70s.

Seven to ten days ago, we had two feet of snow at our house, two days ago the temperature climbed to 83° F, and all the snow on the hillsides melted. The creeks overflowed and flooded some of the streets in town. Today, it’s snowing again with about an inch on the ground when I got up this morning. Weird.

I’m getting excited about summer right around the bend, though. I bought one of these this morning for riding backcountry trails. I’ll pick it up on Monday (if it doesn’t keep snowing or flooding).

My dad’s got a Polaris General 1000 4 seat. Very similar to the rzr, but has a small ā€˜pickup’ bed in the back. It’s a hoot.

Mrs Just_B thinks I’m going to kill myself on it, but I intend to have fun this summer (and I’m pretty sure she will too).

Is anyone else having air quality issues from the Canadian wildfires? We have been under a blanket of smoke for the past two days. They think it will drift away later tonight. You can barely see the skyline of Albany and we are all under Air quality alerts. There is a slight smell of a campfire everywhere you go.
I had to go out yesterday and by the time I got home I had a near full blown allergy attack. My sister was in about the same mess.

It was a very odd yellowish/orange yesterday. Today it just looks more foggy. The moon last night was almost neon orange from the particles.

Anyhoo … I’ve been watching the cams around the region and this is Albany a couple of weeks ago in May and today.

Yes, pretty much exactly the same thing here in Northeast Pennsylvania. It was here for around a week, but seemed to be at higher altitude and you couldn’t smell it…until yesterday when it became much more visible at ground level, and now there is a distinct odor. Looking out the window here now, the atmosphere is very yellow.

Out here in the West, it’s still pretty clear. Summers over the previous several years were very smokey due to wildfires — especially those in California. The fires haven’t started up yet, but come July when the hot weather hits, I suspect they’ll happen again.

I’ve been reading about the wildfires in eastern Canada and how the smoke is covering the northeast U.S. I saw a photo of the New York City skyline yesterday, and everything was enveloped in dense smoke. It’s a good week to stay indoors, I guess. I hope you and eastern Canada get lots of rain soon.

We did have a slight bit of rain and hail of all things last night. But, it didn’t last long enough to really do much. I’m thinking it’s on the way out today as it’s appearing a bit brighter this afternoon.

Time will tell

Los Angeles currently…this is cold to us

You’re, er, welcome.

For a city like Toronto, one can smell the smoke in the air, and the sky looks it’s draped in a thin coat of haze. For the first time I am seeing the use of this icon in weather forecast:

We’ve been getting rain all week here, it’s help contain some of the wild fires here in the Maritimes, however the big on in Nova Scotia is still out of control. I’m in south eastern New Brunswick and so far it’s stayed fairly clear, air wise, but when the wind changes, it will probably bring it our way.

I spent several days in Moncton a few years ago. The hotel was right next to the river, where I went for a nice run. The next day the river had almost disappeared. I had never heard of the tidal bore until I asked the desk clerk at the hotel what was going on. The next day, I made a point out of seeing the wave roll up the river, Weird.

The big fires north of Halifax have been making the news in the U.S. I hate to see people losing their homes. Very sad.

It is a cool sight to see, I kind of take it for granted as I’ve seen all my life. It’s very sad for all the loss, hopefully all the people working on it are able to get it under control in the near future.

We are still under smoke and I’ve had a low grade headache going on 3 days now :frowning: My eyes have been sore and itchy as well. I found taking an allergy pill did help and keeping the shades and curtains down has also helped. We have to have the windows open somewhat or we would suffocate :flushed:

The good news is today they believe it will start to shift south. Not good news for them. I’m looking forward to a bit of relief.

We are nearly at the 200 mark. A warning was issued to wear masks and the state will be giving them out for anyone who wants one. Completely up to the person if they want to wear them … they don’t want to piss anyone off LOL
