i feel su&&&&l about AI stealing my job

Hi, chat gpt can generate images, some of my clients have gone to this solution, i live in a poor country and this is my only source of income for me and my mom [we work together] she has been doing this since 2003. now we are thinking with fear for the future, what to do? will she replace us? I am in a severe depression, I love art, I love the creative process, I love to do everything graphics, from 2d to cgi, I love everything art, but now I am very scared, I am very confused, what will happen? I even thought about s#####e, if I can’t do this creatively, not giving some directions to a robot, my life has no meaning, I live for art.

Hi Zenogfx, for many of us is unsure of AI and its future. This is just a boom thing or a fashion thing that so many companies are taking action now, I don’t think it is a real threat for us but the true is … if you don’t learn AI, then learn AI (it is a new tool that must people needs to know about) because if you don’t learn it, then someone who knows how to use then can come take your job. I even learn everything about AI because in some way can be useful (special generative image AI) making some image by a AI or also AI can make some improvements in a image that you are working too. Right now for example in Tech Support, it is a requirement that employers know about AI. Just be curious about AI and don’t afraid !

Certainly seek professional advice about your mental state.

It’s tough with ai. It will soon pass and people will want original art created by original people.

Stay the course, weather the storm. Keep doing the things you love and most of all find positiveness and happiness in your life.

Take a deep breath in, hold it, let your shoulders drop as you exhale, and release the tension in your body. Things change. Jobs change. Entire job categories have disappeared due to technological advancements. Sometimes it sucks. Sometimes it doesn’t. If you are seriously suicidal over AI, seek professional help as @Smurf2 suggested. If you’re being hyperbolic, well, I’d suggest you change your mindset.

The truth is, I am concerned about AI. Just last week, I had a potential client go with AI over me. But I’ve also gotten work because AI hasn’t produced satisfactory results.

I would suggest you keep monitoring AI and learn how you can use it. At the same time, be open minded to the idea that you may need to shift your career or work in a different field. That doesn’t mean you have to give up art, but you might not be able to make a living off of it.

I’m curious … what country do you live in? S#####e will not help you, or your mother. Your life DOES have meaning!

I started my art career in 1967. But in 2002 I unexpectedly lost my largest client that represented 65 percent of my income. I thought about giving up art and pursuing something, anything, that would help me provide an income for my wife and four children. For three years I tried making cold calls to replace the lost income. But every potential client said “no.” Then one day everything changed. Out of the blue, I got a call from a new client.

This new client didn’t automatically fix everything, but it did restore half of what I had lost. What made the change? It was my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He answered my prayers I had been praying for three years. And all during my “Dark Night of the Soul” I never gave up. It was my relationship with him that gave me strength and the courage to continue, even when I felt hopeless and discouraged.

Eventually, slowly, I recovered, and was able to finish my career and retire in 2017, completing a successful 50-year career.

Don’t give up young man. But always be realistic and start a different career path, which I was willing to do if necessary. It all depends on who you are talking to and the relationships you believe in. There is hope! Never give up! Never quit! Listen for His voice.

Hi there

Just to give a good mood, about this article : " OpenAI Puzzled as New Models Show Rising Hallucination Rates" from here : OpenAI Puzzled as New Models Show Rising Hallucination Rates - Slashdot. It seems that there is no mathematical formula to make more intelligent and to work faster. Any way I have been talking with some of them (my own tests and experience with AI), and yes they can do some work but repetitive and fast, but they cannot think their own way. Which means humans evolve by nature, but we didn’t evolve by technology. Things are coming fast and there are going to be many changes but as we know if you try to do thing fast (without patience it doesn’t work). Open AI is creating new models, but such models are making more mistakes than before (48% as the article it says). May be, is this a lesson they should learn ? Because their expectative ?. I think that soon the Bubble of AI is going to break with many deceptions and “they are not going to take 100% jobs”, may be 50% jobs and even may be as a human we are going to work with them. We aren’t perfect, and are we going to make something perfecter than us ? In conclusion, I would say : THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG ! Hallucination = When AI makes mistakes or do things with wrong results.

More on AI destroying art, interesting titles in YouTube :slightly_smiling_face:
