Kerning

This isn’t even a “rookie” mistake when it comes to stone carving.
But somehow I think Pope Francis would be ok with it…

This is so far off that Dan Brown could write a whole chapter about it in his next Robert Langdon novel.

Mind you, each character was expertly carved.

I wonder if Paul Rand designed his own grave marker.

Your question prompted me to do a little Google research. I found several references that said Rand asked another designer, Fred Troller, to design his headstone before he died.

Honestly, I was not familiar with that name off the top of my head, but I’ve probably read about Troller at one point in time. His Wikipedia page says he was friends with Rand.

I wasn’t familiar with Troller either, but based on the Wikipedia article, he seems like someone I should have been aware of.

I only knew for the Next logo from the Steve Jobs story.

What I am reading into this is that you only know of Paul Rand through the Next logo in the Steve Jobs story. He is worth looking into. A pretty inspirational designer.
