Out of gas

I climbed into my pickup truck the other day and noticed the fuel gauge needle hovering over empty. I decided I needed to fill it up before setting out for my destination, but I promptly forgot. Sixty-some miles later, I remembered, but I was about ten miles from the nearest station. The needle was far past the empty mark.

I kept going, wondering when the engine would stop. On the outskirts of the next town was a Walmart. I pulled into the parking lot and ran out of fuel about 100 feet from the nearest pump. Luckily, there was enough slope to coast to within about two yards of the pump. I jumped out and pushed the truck the final few feet.

I’m not sure if this was bad or good luck.

It was perfect timing to be sure

At least you made it. Or someone could bring you a can and fill up. Not sure what I’d do can’t exactly ask someone to bring a gallon of electricity :upside_down_face:

I call it Good Luck. Anything with a good outcome is Good Luck.

Around here you can call Triple-A (AAA) and they can bring a charging truck. It’s only available in “some areas” though. And some other roadside assistance trucks use a gas or diesel generator to do it (or so rumor has it. I’ve never seen one in action. And I’m not talking about the diesel generator in Australia….)

I’d write it off as a good day filled with luck up the ying-yang! Lol!

My old mum used to bomb around in an original 60s mini. She always said it ran better when it was running on fumes. The guy in the garage told her it was about the power to weight ratio. If the tank was full it was heavy and affected the car’s performance.
