I have a Graphic Design Bachelors along with a few minors. Recently I’ve been diving into the world of product design and I find it fascinating. I am wondering about enhancing my design degree to include a bit of Industrial design. Has anyone ever considered this? Is there any information on how this might be done or steps that could be taken? I don’t think an entire 4 year undergrad program would be necessary considering I have fundamentals and software skills that relate.
Industrial Design is half engineering. My guess is that you’d have to go back to school for something related to engineering. But your general ed credits are probably transferable enough to save you 2 of the 4 years. If you can afford it and your BA is transferable, I would try to get a Masters in either Industrial Design or Engineering.
