Video course and newsletter course suggestions?

Hello, everyone!

My boss randomly offered to get me an online course on video creation, as long as I’m the one who finds it (and it’s not too expensive). He wants me to create short video ads for the company. I already make animated banners with After Effects, and I’ve had classes on storyboarding, so I’m looking for either something about Premiere - which I almost never use - or something to expand on AE’s motion text and cool effects. I know there’s tons of great free tutorials out there, so if you know of, for example, a free full course on youtube that would also count, but it’s also a chance to get a non-free class as well. (I’ve also just started messing around with DaVinci Resolve, so if you have something interesting in mind feel free to mention).

We also make tons of newsletters, but I’ve been stuck with the most basic knowledge of mailchimp so far and I’m too scared to experiment with stuff that includes programming by myself. If you happen to have some relevant class on that, as well, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance!

It depends on whether you’re looking for online courses or can set aside a few evenings after work. I’ve done a mix of free and paid courses myself, starting with free tutorials to get the basics down and then investing in more advanced when I need.

I’d suggest starting with free resources like Ben Marriott for After Effects, Premiere Gal for Premiere Pro, or Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 18 Beginner’s Guide.

And after that maybe use the budget for something like Explainer Camp if you want more depth.

For Mailchimp, it’s worth experimenting with a test list or sandbox account try out features.

For paid platforms, Skillshare, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning often offer free trials. School of Motion is pricey, and then you have Explainer Camp which is a bit cheaper.

Great suggestions already! If you’re looking for a more structured learning path, I’ve found platforms like Skillshare and Udemy offer a wide range of video courses that cover everything from beginner to advanced levels, especially for software like Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve. Another resource I’ve used is YouTube, where channels like Video Copilot and Motion Design School have excellent free tutorials.

For email marketing, you might want to dive deeper into tools like Mailchimp, and experimenting with a sandbox account is a great way to get hands-on experience.

As for newsletters, I’d recommend checking out some examples of successful campaigns and studying their design and strategy—often, the best learning comes from analyzing what works.

Happy learning, and don’t forget to keep experimenting!
