What is pace?

What does the term pace mean in graphic design? Is it how fast the focus of the viewers shifts from one element to the other? I encountered this term in this book:

Hmm…I’ve pace used in movies and books but not graphic design. However, the image you posted says Moving Image and Digital Media so I guess that can cover things that have a timeline.

The way you have described it I would consider to be hierarchy rather than pace. Hierarchy is usually the order that the viewer takes in each element in a piece of design, rather than the speed.
