I just told my cat a tooth pick has more food than a grocery store
I work in a hospital and today things are finally slowing down in terms of workload (although they may pick up in the next two weeks when the virus spikes).
But I just wanted to share my KANBAN board, as I am so proud to see it filled with more “completed” projects then projects stalled in “approval”.
Note the red stickys indicate anything due in less than a week. Also, our printer/sign guy had a fun time printing over 100 vinyl clings and installing then in 24 hours for all 3 hospitals.
Fun times!
Out of the mouths of babes.
My little 6yo niece just asked her Momma when the weekend was going to be over.
From a 6 year old???
I can remember saying that NEVER. LOL.
Is anyone else having trouble concentrating with work?
It’s too tempting to be checking the news all day. I need a self-imposed corona news ban.
Yeah, everything is off balance. It has that like-nothing-we’ve-ever-seen feeling reminiscent of the days following 9/11.
Yes. I don’t usually work from home, but everyone in the office is doing that now. Normally, I’d say working from home would be great, but I’m really having a difficult time getting anything done. My mind just doesn’t feel like focusing on work considering the circumstances.
I keep checking CNN and regret doing so each time I give into the temptation. The news just keeps getting worse — not only with the covid-19 figures, but my 401(k) is in free-fall.
You’re not alone. So, if it’s true that misery loves company, welcome to the party. If I had to guess, I’d say we’ll be over the hump in a month or two (if not sooner) and that everything will start to rebound. The market might not recover to the 29K level it was at, but I have to believe there will be a good upswing once the economy engages again.
Sorry to be uncouth and talk about money, but the reality is that the economic impact of this – from people loosing their jobs or being furloughed to retirement savings being hit – is a very real side effect.
I don’t find it at all uncouth … it’s a reality … one that scares me to death for so many
I’ve had to put myself on a very limited view of the news right now and Facebook etc. They both relish in salacious headlines and out right lies or taking little truths and twisting them so badly they are completely misleading. I’m tired of people just not able to report or share REAL news. Nope … lets twist it and turn it and get those clicks! Who cares if you are scaring people to death or giving them anxiety or worse … giving them a false narrative that helps them make poor decisions.
All I can say is you folks are not alone
This may be the biggest long term effect of the current crisis. The UK government is making money available so businesses don’t have to lay off people with no work coming in, and utility companies are saying don’t worry if you can’t pay your bills. There is talk of legislation to prevent people from being evicted for nonpayment of rent and even a tax holiday or cash handouts to stop people going broke. They are basically saying we will pick up the tab.
One senator here in the US (among others) wants to hand out $1000 to every American “affected by the virus.” That’s about $340Billion!
I wonder if closing a city to work qualifies as “affected?” I want some of my hard earned tax money back.
Speaking of taxes, I wonder if taxes are still due on the 15th… Heard talk they were going to be extended, but even then you usually have to file a form that you’ll be late.
Just read an article that people are shunning paper money over virus fears.
If you have any paper money you want to get rid of, I’ll take it.
Or coins for that matter.
I just happened to have read a few articles mentioning this
It’s a Saturday night and this is our Broadway. It’s always pack. Especially on a weekend. Not a soul in sight. I watched for several minutes and not one single car.
One thing I’ve noticed over the past few days is that I hardly ever look at a clock or worry about time. I get up when I wake up, eat when I’m hungry, and go to bed when I’m tired. Time is marching on, but it doesn’t seem to matter.
This past week, I lost track of which day of the week was what. While working from home without actually heading into an office, everything just sort of bleeds together into a long, continuous stream. I think I need to pay more attention to sticking to a self-imposed schedule.
We’ve been using video conferencing to stay in touch with each other, which works, but isn’t nearly as spontaneous as just walking across the hall to ask a question or discuss a problem. I’m having trouble imagining this routine going on for weeks or months, but that’s likely the case. I guess it’s best to take it a day at a time.
Sigh … Same here.
I lost track of the day of the week because the traffic pattern was weird. Wednesdays are usually the worst for traffic, followed by Friday. Traffic was more like what you see on a Monday Holiday.
Creepy. But makes the trip much more pleasant.
