I am trying to keep to a routine, so getting up with the alarm, breakfast, stretching exercise, getting dressed instead of working in pyjamas all day, taking a lunch at a particular time, etc.
I nearly forgot today was Monday though lol
Just signed in to work on WhatsApp so the boss knows I’m on the case, checking emails, sorting out the work coming in and planning my day.
Oh and working at home means I can listen to whatever music I like without anyone complaining hehe.
Okay.
This has gone beyond annoying.
The governor pretty much shut down all “non-essential” business in the state of MA for 2 weeks starting noon tomorrow.
I can take vacay or I can apply for unemployment.
Along with pretty much the rest of the company. Actually probably pretty much the entire service industry sector. There’s a job at the end of the tunnel. Just treading water until we get there though.
Look to the weather. You ain’t gonna get much printed if this happens in your state. Move up your deadlines if you can - or push them waaaaaaay out.
The USNS Comfort arrived in NYC earlier today. The USNS Mercy was deployed to the West Coast a few days ago. A sight that is both a relief and terrifying at the same time. God help us all The turning action up to the pier starts at the 19:00 mark. It gives me goosebumps.
She’s docked on Pier 90 in the New York Harbor. The USNS Comfort is a 1,000-bed Navy Hospital ship, with 12 operating rooms, a medical laboratory and more than 1,000 officers. Watching those tugboats guide her in was amazing.
A lot of your favorite bands, especially the smaller ones, are doing all sorts of online concerts and live-feeds. Some are doing it in order to make money just to survive all their gigs being cancelled for the foreseeable future.
If you have a favorite band, look them up on both their Youtube feeds and main website. If you have the means, support them by buying a virtual ticket. A lot of the smaller ones already have Patreon sites as well.
wow!, did you take these photos?
(im an idiot sometimes, i cant figure anything simple but anything complex is up my alley!)
I now live 16 miles from this harbor, but stayed indoors that day.
last sunday 3 police were wondering what i was doing taking photos at 1pm
then told me to go home!
We have now lost nearly 3x the amount of folks that perished in 9/11.
I posted this over on FB … I doubt many will read it … it’s not asking them to find out what type of Unicorn or Baked Potato they are LOL
It’s important to remember these numbers are only those tested. This does not include those that have not been tested and recovered or died. Testing is still limited. Just because your state or county doesn’t show much in the number game … doesn’t mean it’s not there.
Total Tested Persons To Date - 440,980 Total Positive Cases To Date - 180,458 Tested Yesterday 4/10 - 23,095 Positive Results Yesterday 4/10 - 9,946 Total Fatalities - 8,627 (For perspective there were 2,977 deaths on September 11, 2001)
I’ve been trying not to post a lot about this Pandemic because it’s depressing and scary. But, this needs to be said. When nearly half of those tested yesterday were positive, that alone should help everyone, even those NOT in NYS, realize the crucial need to stay safe at home.
I think people need a break from Covid 19 with some reassurance that there are still normal lives going on despite the lockdowns and sickness. Facebook is a good place to be reassured that kittens still play with each other, chocolate ice cream still tastes as good as it ever did, and that this will be over some day.
It’s been about three weeks since I’ve had an actual in-person conversation with someone other than my wife. Lots of phone calls and Skypes, but nothing in person other than a wave or two from across the street and a quick thank you from ten feet away.
Tomorrow, I’m heading out of the city for a couple of days to the rural part of the state where I have a second home (where I grew up). In that county, not a single case of Covid 19 has been reported yet. If the usual takes place, the neighbors will drop by, old friends will see my truck there and stop, and nieces and nephews will likely drop in. Then again, everyone’s probably afraid there too — especially of someone freshly escaped from the city. If they do drop by, it will be awkward as I keep my distance and don’t invite them into the house. I’m not even sure I remember how to carry on a real conversation any longer.
A sobering thought (as if it wasn’t bad enough). The numbers we are being told about are just the ones we know about. I reality, these numbers represent the minimum in each category.
The flip side of that sobering thought (if there can be a flip side) is if there are more cases than are being reported in the test numbers, then the mortality rate goes down by that same factor. If there are 10 cases for every tested one, you just moved the decimal place to the left. Not that that’s much consolation to the stricken.
As I predicted way at the beginning, the media is running with the death counts. Every day it’s a banner at the top of the news feed. I start my morning elsewhere.
I realize in the grand scheme of things, this is hardly worth complaining about, but indulge me in my pity-party for a minute. Our 30th anniversary was last month, and we were supposed to fly out early this morning for Florida. We should be sitting on a beach right now enjoy the warm sun, sea breeze, and an adult beverage. At least the weather is nice at home.
