Sort of weird, I know, but I’ve never eaten a hamburger — never even tasted one. I’ve eaten plenty of pancakes, but only done so once on my single visit to an IHOP.

I think all burger joints and IHOPs would go out of business tomorrow if everyone had overly picky eating habits like mine.

here comes the gap change
if you dont know, gap changed their logo, then changed it back.
also i didnt know other people read Brand New! I read it for school.

Tropicana got into a very expensive brand change and change back. They got product on the shelves before everyone hated it.

The difference is that IHOP isn’t actually re-branding anything. It’s only a temporary change on their website and other internet locations.

They’ve said several times that the “name change” is just a way to promote its new line of burgers, a tactic to get people talking about the company- and will be changed back after a certain amount of time.

I have a feeling this is all PR to draw awareness to their burgers.

I think you’re right.

I was sort of dismissive of the whole campaign, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

First, it brought attention to a restaurant chain that few people give a second thought to.

Second, when people do think about them, they think breakfast. Given that their restaurants are open throughout day, it makes sense for them to change that breakfast-only image by marketing new lunch and evening menus.

They won’t give up on pancakes, and they won’t change their name. The whole campaign seems to be an attention-getter designed to tell the public that they’re more than just pancakes — they’re ready to compete with Denny’s, Red Robbin, Village Inn, Cracker Barrel and everyone else for the lunch crowd too.

The CEO has said that it was a marketing scheme a while back. They aren’t rebranding

From a design stand point I think they will be fine, but from a marketing stand point I think it’s a HUGE mistake switching their name just like that and in all honesty IHOP rolls off the tongue a bit better than IHOB…

Looks like IHOP is back and short stacks will be 60¢ on July 17 from 7a to 7p.

The whole campaign seemed clumsy, but it certainly created plenty of publicity. I’d be interested to know if their business increased because of it.

That’s funny I just saw the commercial on Fox News Channel admitting it was all a ruse. Trump should be tweeting it shortly.
