Hey everyone!
I’d be really grateful for some honest eyes on my portfolio site: lucianocaruso.design
A little about it: it’s the home for my brand identity practice based here in Metro Detroit. I built it to show my case studies and hopefully bring in client work, mostly small businesses and organizations around the Detroit area.
There are two groups I’m really making it for. On one side, prospective clients, business owners, founders, nonprofit folks, who need to get a feel for me pretty quickly. On the other, design peers and hiring managers who’ll look at the actual work a lot more closely. I’m hoping it can speak to both.
What I’m going for is to come across clearly as a brand identity designer, someone who builds full visual systems rather than one-off logos, and to make it easy for someone to understand what I do and reach out. I’m also using it while applying for design roles, so I’d love for it to hold up to a trained eye.
As for me: I’ve got a BA in Graphic Design with a marketing minor, about a year running my own practice, and some in-house design work before that. I’d call myself latter stages of early-level, still very much sharpening my fundamentals (typography, color, design history) and fully aware I’ve got blind spots, which is honestly why I’m here.
Any and all feedback is genuinely welcome, kind, critical, or brutal, whatever you’ve got. Layout, hierarchy, the case study writing, the mockups, whether the positioning lands, whether anything reads as amateur. Please don’t hold back. Thank you so much for taking the time, it means a lot.
