It wasn’t a show I watched, but I remember it too.
I watched a PBS special with her talking about what an accomplishment it was for her as a Black Woman to not only be on Television at that point in time … but as the star. Even as the star … on the first day of shooting she got in early for the make up and they has NO make up for black complexions. She had to bring her own until they could get some.
Drummer Ginger Baker died Oct. 6 at 80. He was 80 years old. Baker was co-founder of Cream, the 1960s rock band trio that included Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce.
Cream’s biggest hits included Sunshine of Your Love, Badge, White Room, I Feel Free, Strange Brew, Crossroads and at least half a dozen others.
Ginger Baker was also the drummer in the short-lived rock band Blind Faith, which included Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood and Ric Grech.
I hadn’t heard that
Rip Taylor has passed at 84. Honestly … I thought the guy passed years ago He was in tons of game shows, Guest starred on TV shows and was in several movies. He was a wacky sort of chap. Flamboyant puts it mildly lol
I remember him most for the Gong Show and the $1.98 Beauty Pageant. RIP Rip
René Auberjonois has passed at 79. He was best known for his performances as often fussy characters with aristocratic bearing. I loved him as Odo on Deep Space Nine. He has been in so many things. He did guest appearances that were always wonderful as well. I’ll never forget his portrayal as Father Mulcahy in MASH* and of course Clayton Runnymede Endicott III. RIP Rene’
A couple favorites of mine:
Paul Lewiston, the only sane character in Boston Legal
Reverend Oliver in The Patriot
Paul Lewiston, the only sane character in Boston Legal
lol… so true.
I was shocked to hear he had passed.
I recognize his face, but I can’t tell you what I’ve seen that he’s been in.
I recognize him from Deep Space Nine, but otherwise, I don’t recall anything he’s done. Then again, I’m a complete failure at noticing these kinds of things.
That’s RIGHT he was in MASH! I think I’m the only one who remembers him more from Benson.
The movie MASH, not the TV show, right?
Yes … he was the original Father Mulcahy
Marie Fredriksson (lead singer from Roxette) passed away. She sure fought that cancer for a long time.
So sad. She was always a fav back in the day
The older I get, the younger 71 seems. I am not familiar with Marie or Roxette, but it seems far too soon.
They got really famous over here after their song was a feature of the movie Pretty Woman
I just read that Philip McKeon passed away on the 10th of this month. For those of the younger generation he was the teenage heartthrob on Alice and the brother of Nancy McKeon, who made it big on Facts of Life. Philip played Alice’s son, Tommy. They say he was suffering with a long term illness but, no indication what. He was only 55 RIP Philip
he gets confused with Rip Horn. they both passed this year which cause many searches and head scratching from every news media editors over the correct name and bios for thier website.
i always have his music playing and listen to the first Cars album quite often, Move Like This is great as well.
