I’m too young to understand this
You also have to know that a “ding dong” was a mass-produced, hockey puck-shaped chocolate cake thing with cream filling and chocolate frosting.
Do they still make them?
I used to love those in my lunch as a kid
They don’t make them anymore unfortunately They left us when Hostess went out of business. I think some other company is now marketing the new Ding Dong … but they are nothing like the original … from all reviews I’ve seen
I like the cupcakes better. The chocolate icing was thicker and you could peel it off and eat it separately. Mom only ever gave us one cupcake for lunch though. Not sure if it was 2 was too much for one kid or if we didn’t have the money. We used to get em at the factory for half price on Day-Old Day and toss em in the freezer.
Yep. Always saved the icing for last.
Oh I loved them too … it would be a challenge to pull the white swirl off in tact
… and it was only one per kid here as well
Similar to Hostess Ding Dongs and cupcakes, there were also Suzy Qs, which dispensed with the frosting and just made a sandwich from the goopy white foamy filling and chocolate cake. Thanks to the wonders made possible by modern chemistry, all Hostess baked goods lasted for months on a shelf with no apparent deterioration. I’m surprised we survived our childhoods ingesting this stuff.
Since we are blasting the past here … Dolly Madison Zingers were also a major fav of mine … along with their chocolate pudding hand pies
YUM!!!
Ummmm, I can taste them now. I loved Zingers.
They were so good
Hostess/Dolly Madison Zingers, Ding Dongs, Suzy Q’s, Ho Ho’s, Cupcakes, Fruit Pies, Donettes, etc., are all still available.
Drake’s Funny Bones!
Also, Tastykake Krimpets in butterscotch and the Peanut Butter Kandykakes
Lol thanks for the video. The poor girls name via the song was Rama Lama Dingdong? Poor thing…
just saw this video. It was very funny.
I accidentally swallowed some food coloring. The doctor says I’m okay, but I feel like I’m dyeing inside.
Reminds me of the time I was inking and the brush-wash glass looked so much like a water glass…
Everything came out ok in the end though…
lmaooo you two!
Wow! Muttley! That brings back memories. Dick Dastardly in the Mean Machine (Wacky Races) and all…
I’ve been known to wheeze like him on occasion
