This isn’t a song per se, but if you are fortunate enough to have lived through the late 70s and 80s and had any inclination towards punk, new wave, alternate, you would probably enjoy watching this documentary on the new romantic movement. If that type of music wasn’t your thing, I don’t think you’d enjoy this.
I’m happy to admit that my mind shut down by the time the 60s ended.
Good stuff.
Ir’s been a long time since I’ve seen Heathers. (You probably have to have survived the 80s to totally appreciate it, but it’s a good movie.) I can’t remember if the song was actually in the movie or not.
This is why I can never really tell anyone what my musical taste is … because it’s a little bit of everything.
Here is a snippet from a playlist running in the background today.
Sort of cracks me up LOL
What’s the next 4 songs on YOUR playlist? I can’t be the only one … right??
My playlists are pretty monolithic, same artist all day but different artists on different days.
The past three days have been Tangerine Dream, Yes and Led Zeppelin.
No playlist. Mostly Procol Harum, Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, The Hollies, Gordon Lightfoot, and some blues. Oh, and The Beatles.
Eriskay’s favs are more my speed. But, oh, you poor younglings! I used to make my own music—playing a five-string banjo and jamming out to Bluegrass music.
I was taught by J.D.Crowe, at the time, the number one banjo player in the world. I did a barter deal with him. I taught him how to play golf and he taught me how to play the banjo. The rest of his band (The New South) said I ruined him—once he learned the game, he wouldn’t play any Bluegrass Festival that didn’t have a golf course nearby.
I made the connection with him through the work I was doing creating album cover art. He was a great lifelong friend who passed away just last year.
I’m sure I’ve posted Miss Li before, but gotta post some more. This is such a great performance of a great song.
Nice Music selection, PJ
for some strange reason, I have listened to Yes’ TALK more than any other Yes album this calendar year, according to my count on iTunes/music. which is weird because in 1994 I gave that hardly any attention. I even told Alan White that his percussion on “where will you be” is special this year, on that twitter, he replied: “thank you!”
The year I graduated High School lol … Man, I’m old This was always a rather dreamy favorite. I have no desire to break out of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s vibe.
I have a friend who plays in a 90s cover band (Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, etc.). I went to see them and quickly realized that I was still listening to 80s music in the 90s — and I still listen to 80s music today.
70s and 80s? Not familiar with them.
Love them all!
I had such a crush on Steve Kilbey (The Church) way back in the olden days
