This isn’t a song per se, but if you are fortunate enough to have lived through the late 70s and 80s and had any inclination towards punk, new wave, alternate, you would probably enjoy watching this documentary on the new romantic movement. If that type of music wasn’t your thing, I don’t think you’d enjoy this.
Ir’s been a long time since I’ve seen Heathers. (You probably have to have survived the 80s to totally appreciate it, but it’s a good movie.) I can’t remember if the song was actually in the movie or not.
Eriskay’s favs are more my speed. But, oh, you poor younglings! I used to make my own music—playing a five-string banjo and jamming out to Bluegrass music.
I was taught by J.D.Crowe, at the time, the number one banjo player in the world. I did a barter deal with him. I taught him how to play golf and he taught me how to play the banjo. The rest of his band (The New South) said I ruined him—once he learned the game, he wouldn’t play any Bluegrass Festival that didn’t have a golf course nearby.
I made the connection with him through the work I was doing creating album cover art. He was a great lifelong friend who passed away just last year.
Nice Music selection, PJ
for some strange reason, I have listened to Yes’ TALK more than any other Yes album this calendar year, according to my count on iTunes/music. which is weird because in 1994 I gave that hardly any attention. I even told Alan White that his percussion on “where will you be” is special this year, on that twitter, he replied: “thank you!”
The year I graduated High School lol … Man, I’m old This was always a rather dreamy favorite. I have no desire to break out of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s vibe.
I have a friend who plays in a 90s cover band (Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, etc.). I went to see them and quickly realized that I was still listening to 80s music in the 90s — and I still listen to 80s music today.
