After missing yesterday’s eclipse, I’ve been regretting it. I’m seriously considering Spain for 2026. Maybe I’ll see you there. Spain’s northern coast looks pretty good.
Last Friday, I mowed our lawn. On Saturday, I went for a nice ride on some 4WD trails in the hills.
It’s been snowing nonstop yesterday and today, and it’s not supposed to let up until tomorrow night. I love spring, but it’s temperamental. I hope our trees don’t break under the weight.
Saturday
Today
Your Saturday looks like an absolute ton of fun. Your Today photo? Well, I can appreciate the beauty of snow, but I’m over it for the year.
That location looks like it’d make a great FPV cruising / filming spot.
Sunday night we had a storm front roll through. The local airport clocked 86mph straightline winds. A small city a little ways north of us clocked 100mph straightline winds.
There’s a tree uprooted and laying on a powerline that serves the side of the street we live on. Power went out 730pm Sunday night and isn’t expected to be restored until tomorrow night at the earliest.
We put all the perishable food items in the basement deepfreeze with a couple bags of ice to hopefully preserve most of it.
Total utility customers effected in the state as of Sunday 9pm was about 93000 without power. That’s restored about 90% now, but the harder hit areas will be delayed another 24hr from now at least.
It was a very muggy, hot nights (bad) sleep last night.
Oh man, that sucks. is your power back on at least?
No. Not expected before tonight at the very earliest. Based on the size of the tree laying on the line, it’ll take a day or so to remove that and then they can get to repairing the line. I’m guessing sometime Thursday even though the power company swears by Wed. night at the latest.
That’s no bueno. Well, I hope that they can get the power back on as soon as possible. Hang in there. What part of the country are you in?
South-Central KS. They’ve gotten most of the really big widespread outages handled, they’re just working through the smaller issues at this point, but there are a lot of them.
I’d be mighty tempted to get a hotel room.
Probably going to stay with the mother in law tonight. We’ll have a cool cozy place to sleep and shower, but it’ll mean a 45min drive in to work.
A 45 minute commute seems like a small price to pay for a good night’s sleep.
I agree with Steve-O. I’d take a more comfortable night’s sleep. Either way, I hope you guys get up and running soon.
We’ll be heading down after work this evening, packing up some of the perishables that are starting to thaw a little more than we’d like to either use them for supper tonight or just leave them in mother in law’s deep freeze until the power is back on.
We’ll probably do laundry too while there and stay another night if needed.
It was 80° yesterday and 86° today That’s too hot … too soon.
I’m living in a suburb of Detroit, and we’ve had 86 or higher for days now!
Too hot too soon, this is July weather for this area!
Gotta get my hot tub up and running before Memorial Day weekend!
Eighty degrees (27ºC) in Toronto in May? Looks like I picked the wrong place to live.
I’m not sure we can run 2 AC units on the bedroom circuit
Guess we’ll find out real soon.
(just kidding, I’ll check the amps labels, but I’m fairly certain its only a 15amp circuit for the 3 bedrooms and the bath.)
We’ve had unseasonably cool and wet weather this spring in the western U.S. I just looked at our outside thermometer, which says 46°F (8°C). If we’re lucky, it will reach the mid-50s today.
Power was restored at 905am this morning. Whatever it was, it didn’t take them very long to fix it once the crew showed up. Apparently wasn’t caused by the huge tree uprooted a couple blocks over.
